Merck Nederlandand Vel) were all running their own specific applications like SAP R/2 for Merck and an inhouseapplication running on AS/400 for Vel. To remaincompetitive and offer the best level of service itbecame necessary to have an integrated solution forall companies allowing an horizontal commercialand logistics structure for all the divisions. The studywas performed at a broader European level including Germany England Austria and Portugal toensure synergy at the whole group level.A European taskforce group was setup to define allthe functional and technical re q u i rements and analyzewhat solution would meet most of the groupsprerequisites.
