A good practical definition isinterventions neither taught widely in medicalschools nor generally available in hospitals. Whatmay be complementary medicine in one countrymay be conventional in another. Vitaminsupplementation may or may not be consideredCAM depending on whether the dose is therecommended daily amount or not. Furthermoremany health care professionals now offer CAMtreatments within the bounds of the NHS.Common therapies that are covered in this leafletinclude herbal medicine aromatherapy andmassage music therapy acupuncture dietarysupplements and melatonin and bright lighttherapy.Complementary versus alternativemedicineCAM should only be used in addition to notinstead of conventional medicine.
