Consumer Education Grants on Prescription DrugsPage 1Consumer Education Grants on Prescription Drugs Fifty State Attorneys General announced the issuance of a Request for Applications (RFA) for $6.5 million for national consumer education programs onthe prescribing marketing and purchasing of prescription drugs.This Grant Program was established through a 2004 Attorneys General settlement resolving allegations that WarnerLambert (a division of Pfizer Inc. the worlds largest pharmaceutical company) violated state consumer protection laws when marketing the drug Neurontin for offlabel uses. Eligible applicants include governmental entities; academic institutions; and notforprofit organizations. The objective of this RFA is to provide support toorganizations who will assess the needs and/or interests of consumers regarding the prescribing marketing and purchase of prescription drugs develop innovative information and educational tools applicable to significant numbers ofAmericans disseminate the information and/or educational material in a nationwide campaign evaluate the effectiveness of the materials and evaluatethe dissemination efforts on the purchasing behavior of consumers.For further information regarding the application process please check the website at http://www.ohsu.edu/cpgp or contact the Program Grant Administrator at 5034943094 santaj@ohsu.eduwww.ohsu.edu/cpgp.
