Course Description (Proposed): An introduction to the techniques used for writing event driven programs such as those used by the Windows and Linux operating systems. The course begins with an introduction to graphical user interfaces and the terminology used. The students will start by writing programs using a lowlevel tool such as the Tk GUI Toolkit and Python in order to learn the low level techniques necessary for understanding event driven programming. The course will then progress to using graphical design tools such as Microsoft Visual Studio and languages such as Visual Basic Visual C++ and Visual C#. P CSC 300. Textbook: None required supplemental material will be found on the class web site. The student will learn the basics of the Microsoft Foundation Class Application Programmer Interface (MFC API). Goals: Ability to apply knowledge of computer science mathematics and science. Ability to design test and implement software as well as to analyze and interpret data and programs. Ability to solve future problems by applying techniques and skills learned in this course using modern software tools.
