All Amer Sports companies develop and manufacture technically advanced products that improve the performance of active sports participants. During its 50 years in existence (since 13 January 1950) Amer Sports previously known as a diversifiedindustrial company has been involved in a wide range of businesses such as shipping tobaccomanufacturing plastics wholesale trade paper merchanting and converting publishing and printing andautomotive trade. During the past decade however the Group has undergone structural changes anddivested its noncore activities and focuses now on sporting goods. Atomic Wilson Suunto Precor and Salomon market sports equipment for a range of summer and winter sports indoor and outdoor sports sports instruments as well as fitness equipment. Since 1977 Amer has been listed on the Helsinki StockExchange.1989 Amer acquires Wilson Sporting Goods Co. To safeguard its future business and growth potential Amer acquired Wilson Sporting Goods Co. a leadingworldwide sporting goods manufacturer based in Chicago Illinois. The acquisition was completed at the endof March 1989 for a total consideration of USD 200 million or FIM 860 million. Wilson is one of the leadingglobal sporting goods companies producing and marketing golf racquet and team sports equipment. The company's strategy is to develop innovative game improvement products for average sports participants. 1994 Amer acquires AtomicAt the end of 1994 Amer acquired the operations of Atomic the Austrian manufacturer of winter sportsequipment.
