Such education and training since itenhances auditor proficiency helps ensure thequality of audits.The 1988 revision of the Government AuditingStandards established for the first time specifichourly CPE requirements for auditors working onaudits made in accordance with the standards. Thisinterpretation guides audit organizations and individual auditors on implementing the CPE requirements by answering the most frequently askedquestions from the audit community.In September 1990 an exposure draft of this interpretation was sent to professional organizationsthat are representative of the audit community andto other interested parties for comment. Weappreciate the suggestions and comments of those whoresponded and have incorporated such commentaryas appropriate.
