Cisco 7960 Installation Guide: Cisco 7940 / 7960 IP Phone Cisco 7940/60 IP Phone, Handset, Adjustable Footstand Handset Cord DC48V Power Adapter and Cable RJ-45 Ethernet Cable Quick Installation Guide Your start up kit should include: for connecting the Cisco 7940/60 phone to the Internet via a router connected to a Cable or DSL modem Basic Installation Instructions Cisco 7940/7960 IP Phone Computer Hub or Router Internet DSL or Cable Modem (optional) AC ADAPTER PORT, POWER SUPPLY W/ADAPTER PORT PLUG, AND POWER CABLE W/WALL SOCKET PLUG HEADSET PORT HANDSET PORT NETWORK PORT (10/100 SW) ACCESS PORT (10/100 PC) 2 2 3 3 3 4 4 5 5 6 6 1 1 1 or Step 1:  Connect the RJ-45 Ethernet cable supplied in the box with you IP phone from the Hub or Router to the Network port  (middle port)         on the back of the phone. Step 2:  Connect the handset (bottom port)          and the headset (top port)         to their respective port connec- tor. ---->  If you are not connecting to a computer or using an AC power adapter, proceed to Step 5. Step 3: (Optional) Connect an Ethernet cable from your desktop computer to the access port         on the IP phone, or you can connect your computer directly to your Hub or Router. You can connect your computer to the phone to enable your PC to access the network through the IP phone. You might choose this option if you do not have multiple Ethernet ports in your workspace.
