Computer databases that store informationon customers inventory and projects are found in nearly every industry.Banks have to keep track of their clients accounts. So how do we manage so much information that has become critical toour health safety comfort and financial wellbeing? We look to computersystems managed by Database Administrators (DBAs). DBAs and analystsare the people who make sure that all that electronic data is storedaccurately securely and efficiently. In the database industry Oracle isthe clear leader.DBAs work with database software to identify user needs set upcomputer databases and test systems. They ensure that systems areefficient at responding to requests for data. Maintaining data integrityperforming data backups and maintaining security are critical parts of thejob. Since many databases are available to users over the internetadministrators must be able to design mount and troubleshoot Websites. Much of the administrators job involves problem solvingsuch asgrappling with a system when a database fails to update as it should.DBAs play a strategic role in the overall success of businesses and oftenwork directly with an organizations leaders to ensure that overalloperations are successfully driving the company forward. The demand fordatabase administrators is on the rise.
