Sophisticated applications that use huge amounts of data are being deployed to serve the needs of the organisation as well as those of customers quickly and economically.Databases have indeed played a major role in making organisations more efficient. Thisprogram teaches participants how to build database applications using popular database software like ORACLE. About the CourseThis course is designed for people who have a basic understanding of softwareprogramming and are now ready to move on to higher levels. Each topic is supported with well thought out and relevant exercises and examples which ensure proper assimilation of the subject. In the beginning of the course the participants are taught about the concepts of a database and Structured Query Language Commands which form the basic parts of speech needed to use a database. Construction of database objects like Triggers Stored Procedures Indexes Synonyms Procedures and Functions etc is covered. Applicationdevelopment using the builtin tool Developer 2000 is covered in detail followed by basic concepts of system administration of the Oracle database. Towards the end of the course the participants are expected to do a small project to test and consolidate their grasp ofthe subject.Experienced Faculty of Railway Staff College takes the various topics of the course. Descriptivewriteups and list of useful commands is given tothem which they can refer to while doing theexercises.
