This technique is often referred to as CopyandPaste. Screen capturesare the recommended method for printing from MERLIN Online.The sample exercise performed in this tutorial places a map image of the Sever River Bridge intoa word processor document with a measurement of the bridges length included on the image.The Copy&Paste technique shown in this tutorial is based on Microsoft Windows (95 98 NT or2000); the method of performing a screen capture relies on the Windows Clipboard. Similarmethods may exist for other operating systems. There are also many software packagesavailable (for many operating systems) which specialize in performing screen captures.Page 2First the TNTclientTMmap browser must be set to show the map exactly as it is to be added to thereport. This requires that all of the appropriate data is visible and the appropriate tools arevisible and/or active.To capture an image recording the length of the Severn River Bridge the map area should showthe bridge and the measurement tools should be active and showing a measurement of thebridge. The image below illustrates these settings.Page 3To capture the screen hold down the ALT key on the keyboard then press the PRINT SCREENkey. The PRINT SCREEN key may be labeled PRTSCR or similar. This will capture the activewindow to the clipboard but no indication will be given that the window has been captured.Page 4The next step is to open a software package which supports graphics.
